Scrap: Ads and Challenges

Credits: Leaf by Kathryn Mhire, and the Pumpkin Cart Embroidery by Paula Yagisawa, from the GottaPixel October Group kit.
Font: Tahoma.

This is a photo of dh and M from the Pumpkin Patch in 2005. I fell in love with this photo and but had no idea what to do with it. I didn't want to lighten it up either. So when the November Ad-spiration Challenge came along at Gottapixel this was perfect the goal was to use / create a silhouette and make it look like an ad.

I'm still trying to keep up with S and her 1st year photos. So here is the 10mos layout though I know I've missed the 9 month one - it'll come! :) This layout was done for the November a list Journalling challenge at Elemental Scraps I didn't want a page with just writing so I added 2 pics and all the milestones shes managed to meet so far. I've had a few people tell me that their kids at her age aren't doing these things... but take no mind, every child is different and she is my handful! :) but we love her!

Font: Tempus Sands and Times Roman (I think)

This one has taken the place of my NEW FAVOURITE! This cute little photo is one shortly after our trip to Toronto. M and S were playing on the floor with daddy's headset after daddy finished playing Flight Sim! The background is a sunset from out the window of the plane on our return trip from Toronto!

This one was done for an AD Inspiration layout challenge at Elemental Scraps

Photos from our first adventures in Letterboxing. While I was doing the stamping, dh was busily snapping photos of the girls. The large photo was taken moments before it decided to pour. It was a beautifully warm day (lacking sun) and we had a good time.

This layout shows S enjoying her first romp in the leaves, when mummy and daddy actually let her get down and into them! She had a blast. Mental note: since any of my visitors here know that I knit too! From past experience don't let little kids in Wool pants crawl around in the leaves... its a pain to clean off the pants! LOL!

What the heck? Has she lost her mind? Scrapping shoes? I mean really.

This one was done for a NSF (No Smiling Faces) Challenge at Elemental Scraps. SO I figured I'd do a Family Portrait inspired by an art class painting similar I had seen back in high school. Each child is represented by a pair of shoes. One of dd is no longer residing with us but she is represented here by the Butterfly on my shoelace and the vent hose that traces out of the picture.

A collage of photos from our Toronto Trip in September 2006 In the bottom of right hand one is a little picture of my dd who was fascinated with the Mirrors in the bathroom of my MIL's new home. I need a special picture just for this one! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Blogger was acting up while I was trying to get my latest layouts up! SO I thought I'd wish y'all a Happy American Thanksgiving! LOL! Even if you're not American (which I'm not) I figured I'd let y'all know that I'm thankful for visitors to my blog even if no one comments! LOL!

GottaPixel did Color Challenge, where they give you the colours and you do the layout using the colours. So here is what I came up with. This is the second edition of this particular layout as I went back to this one the next day and made it more to my liking!

Horoscope and Selling My Wares

I'm not usually a big believer in horoscopes but this one plays with my mind.... there are so many possibilities...

"You're building bridges and making new contacts Libra, thanks to Jupiter opening new doors in your communications sector. You're a social sign by nature, so you'll love the extra interaction. It's prime time to start advertising your wares, to get the word out about what you do, or what you want to do. It'll be people who will guide you toward your goal, so keep your ear to the ground and pay attention to things said in passing. You'll never be thought of as blunt, since you're usually the very essence of tact, but you may be more direct and honest in your delivery, thanks to say-it-like-it-is Jupiter. Ah well, you don't want to be too predictable, do you? Siblings will be a huge source of support this year, either financially or emotionally."

Halloween is my favourite time of year. I love to dress the kids up and look for pumpkins and then check out all the decorations.... so here is our pumpkins

Here are are the rules to play:

List 5 weird things about yourself or your pets.
Tag 5 friends and list them. Those people then need to write on their blogs about 5 weird things, and state the rules, and tag 5 more people.

Don’t forget to let the people you tagged know by posting a comment on their blog!

1. Halloween is my favourite time of year but I don't like to dress up, I just like to dress my kids up!!

2. When I grow up I want to be a children's author.

3. I didn't like kids until I had my own!

4. I refuse to babysit other's kids just because I don't know how to say no to them and feel guilty if they do something and I have to get mad at them...

5. I think I have a major crafting addiction.

Menu Planning

Wow! It seems like ages since I actually planned a menu. And with the re-newed adventures of become vegan again, its been a bit of a challenge. But I just spent an hour on RecipeZaar.com and have come up with what will likely be a workable menu for us for the week. So I guess shopping is the top of the plan after school tomorrow. If you find some time to venture on over to Recipezaar, I'm sure you'll find something you love on there... with the added bonus of being able to print out a shopping list and plan a menu! :)

Another busy day in FO land! :)!

Saw this Map material on sale at Joanns a little while ago but haven't had the time to put it together.... but here it is.... the girls gave me the opportunity to work on it. It will hang on the wall in our school room. I will probably change the back so that we could use it as a felt board too, just flip it over and stick things on! Now that would be cool.

I also managed to finish off the hat for my 2nd OOOH Baby Garter Stitch Sweater. So now all I have to do is finished the booties off (sew and weave in) thenadd the buttons to the sweater and voila ... anther FO! YA!

Katja and Productive Day

Wow, a productive day here.

I got a new stove, finally got a pic of the Katja tank from Knitty that I'm sending to my dd.

Finished a pumpkin hat complete with leaves

And sewed a blanket all in one day.
The blanket is for a friend of my mum's g-baby who was born at 7 months gestation... she's 3.5 lbs and in need of warm things, so I'm scouring the net looking for ideas.

Thoughts with Susan

I used to be on the creative team for and awesome designer Susan Godfrey. In June they found out that their expected child would have Potter's Syndrome (complete agenesis of the Kidneys.) This is a syndrome incompatible with life and if the baby did survive it wouldn't live for very long due to undeveloped lungs. This would be their 2nd child with this syndrome - which is exceptionally rare (ie rare to have 2 with the same syndrome, unless there is a renal issue in the family.)

On September 8th, she posted her last post before the expected delivery date of Sept 12. Her hopes were that she could deliver the baby without a c-section. My thoughts have been with her ever since. Susan if you ever make it over here, please know that you've been in my thoughts and I'm sending all the positive thoughts and strength I can your way! ((Hugs))

A Few Changes

So for those of you that frequent my blog, you'll notice a few posts in here that you may not have seen before. I'm in the process of merging my Scrap blog with my Knitting (this one) blog, just because I don't feel like keeping them separate anymore!

Feel free to browse back over some of the old posts. The Scrap pages begin sometime around the end of April 2006.

Thanks for looking!

Nearing Completion

Where did that month go? I've been out of touch - s'what happens when you have a busy busy baby!

The Crochet Heartghan is nearing completion. It will be done tonight... if it kills me.... and its one of those NEVER AGAIN projects. I'm so dis-enchanted with that whole process.

The Maisie pants are on hold as I ran out of yarn and need to decide what to do with the waist.

So that's it... photos will come when I get the 'ghan done.

Walking in 2002 and Big Shoes

Digging through some old photos and found these little gems! :)

These photos were taken with my first digital camera in 2002. My dd absolutely loved the Bjorn and so whenever we brought it out and got her in it... she wriggled and giggled and totally enjoyed the walks. I've been dying to try the circles and words on a circle technique so I tested it out here, its not perfect but works good.

Kit is Susan Godfrey's Camping Fun (at Elemental Scraps)
Fonts are Forte and Bradley's hand.

This little gem was done for the 30 day scrap challenge at Element Scraps and it was for Kevin Bacon's birthday, using the word art from Digimedic and the kit is Susan Godfrey's Be My Baby kit (at Elemental Scraps), stitching was by Wendy Whitney in her Patriotic Day kit from Gotta Pixel.

New Pants Photo Posting Problem

So I went back a few entries and tried to post the photos I wanted on the last couple of post and they won't upload. Either I can't go back and add photos to an already long post or the photos I have are too big. *sigh* Oh well.

On the hook
In the meantime you know the needle, hook or machine haven't been idle. On the hook I've been making a pair of pants.... Maisie pants as a tester for the pants. I think I've got version one in 5 pieces. They're really cool and I have just the waist band to go - but wouldn't you know it I ran out of yarn. So I'm gonna dig through my stash and since it is only the waistband, I'll do it in different yarn and hope it holds up with the rest of the yarn I used...

I also have a few grannies on the hook for the crafting group that I'm working with - we're making 8 inch grannies to send to a woman who likes to piece them together - boy will she be busy.

And last but not least the swing cover... You know real outdoor swings that get toasty hot in the summer, well the big kiddo is tired of burning her cheeks and thighs on the swing seats so I'm making a cover for her that we can take to the park on park days! :) Should be interesting.

On the needle
Evidently I finished up the knitted pants I was working on but I have a few new balls of yarn headed this way in a few weeks, so I'm working through the stash - I think I need to get on to the Katja in the sidebar but need to weedle down the 'To Do' list before I promise to start a new project.

On the Machine
Just in time for the 4th of July I whipped together a pair of Firework shorts for the baby. Discovered I didn't ahve elastic for them but decided she was gonna wear them anyway! I'll probably finish them up this week and make another pair.

I've also got the move on a dress for the big kiddo. The Pattern is cut now I just need to decide am I making her birthday dress for next year or a sunny summery dress for this year.... decisions decisions.... plus I have 2 more piles of material for something matching for both girls!

Never an idle moment here! :)

This is the first dress that I made for you. It was done in time for the
