Hand Embroidered Baby Quilt Progress

Todays focus after the lack of direction/motivation in my other project areas was the hand embroidered quilt... I finally got my January Goal done (the Kitty) ... Roll on February(the Ducky)

What No Project?

So I sat for a few days feeling unmotivated to begin a new project.

I tried to start an Oxfam or Guidepost Sweater but the motivation wasn't there. I got it started - and promptly tinked it because it wasn't my speed - so I tried to crochet it and promptly discovered it wasn't gonna work that way either - so I tried to start my own - no dice.

I cleaned out my knitting basket - which I'm trying to keep my WIP and nothing else, and started and completed 2 loomed hats at midnight last night (part of the 35 count for Feb's total) just so I wouldn't feel like I'm spinning my wheels + I had to get rid of a yarn I absolutely hate working with (Red Heart Baby Clouds) - I can't seem to crochet with it, but it does loom up nice.

I'm not getting much purchase on the 12 inch squares for my heartghan, though I only have 4 more 12 inchers to go. *sigh*

So while the 'mini-bee' slept this aft (in my lap) I dragged out my embroidery baby quilt (commenced at -2weeks mini-bee) ... and made a little progress - my January goal on that endeavour is almost complete (Kitty)

So while I'm not exactly doing something, I'm not spinning my wheels either, I guess I'm just using these fleeting days of January as clean up days.

(I think I'm getting frustrated with the Charity stuff I'm doing as I find more and more guidelines / general rules of what they will accept.)

2006 FO - Childhood from Knitty

In my last three weeks of pregnancy I was bored and looking for something to do, something to take my mind off the fact that I was due any day and nothing was happening - so I started on the larger sweater which had been in the plans for months - I had bought the buttons in June (and this was December!)

I got 2 sleeves (I always start with the sleeves), the back and one front done in under 3 weeks and then took a break my last week to begin a hand embroidered quilt for the baby.

Three weeks after the baby was born the first one was done. Well being that the baby was a girl, I felt compelled to have them have matching sweaters.

So here are my bumblebee sweeters complete with bumble bee buttons!

Obsessions Abound

So I started this blog on the suggestion of a friend - though if you've been to my profile before you'll know I've attempted this about 3 or 4 times nowsince I joined blogger over a year ago ... in various formats... but honestly this is the furthest I've come on Blogger! :)

I've got my sidebar functioning almost the way I want it, just need to add some photos and links and stuff then I'll truly happy.

The other thing that got this blog started was surfing around yesterday I happened upon a few different blogs with some awesome links, and wanted a place to store some of them...

So on to the obsession part of the post... (yes outside of blogging!) So in surfing I found a site that showed this sweet sweater along with a bazillion other sweet knits that one day I'll do! LOL! So I ended up feeding my knit obsession with the purchase of this book. All this knit talk has inspired me to pull out my UFOs and get working! :)

Obsessions, Obsessions, I'll be knitting forever at this rate! :)

Matching Hats

These two hats were born of a Knifty Knitter loom.
For those that don't know the first thing about looming, its like the childhood past-time of corking or spool knitting.

My oldest saw the pink hat for the baby and asked for a matching one.

So here they are.

06 FO #1 - Fixed Object

About 14 yrs ago I made this sweater for my niece. I recently received it back as a 'You made this' hand-me down. In my inexperience the cuffs had been knit too tight, so I recently re-worked the cuffs and now dd can wear it. Its reall cool having your kid wear a sweater you made and were exceptionally proud of eons ago and that you thought you'd never seee again! LOL!

Very cool!
